Julie London

JulieJulie London (nee Peck) was an American performer and actress who performed for over 40 years. London is a torch singer well-known for her soft, pleasant vocals and her languid contralto voice, recorded more than thirty albums of pop and jazz standards between 1955-1969. The album she released as her debut "Cry Me a River" which she recorded, was inducted into The Grammy Hall of Fame in 2001. In addition to her music-related recognition, London was nominated for an award called a Golden Globe Award in 1974 in her role as nurse Dixie McCall in the television series Emergency!. Born in Santa Rosa, California, to vaudevillian parents, London was discovered while working as an elevator operator in downtown Los Angeles, and she started her career as an actress. London's 35-year acting career began with film in 1944. It included roles in the lead female role in various westerns. In the middle of the 1950s she signed a recording deal with Liberty Records. This was the beginning of her professional career. In 1969, she released her last studio album. However, she continued to be prominent in the emergency series as Dixie McCall, a female nurse. (1972-1979) during which she was portrayed by her husband Bobby Troup. Jack Webb produced the show.
